Supporting Network Organizations

Nebraska’s network of domestic and sexual violence service providers is made up of independent, community-based organizations across the state. Each organization operates on its own while working together to provide consistent, high-quality support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking. The Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence strengthens this network by providing core support through training, technical assistance, and peer reviews. The Nebraska Coalition also offers additional resources and guidance as new challenges and community needs emerge, helping organizations continue to deliver effective, survivor-centered services across Nebraska.

Training

The Nebraska Coalition provides network-wide training and education to build skills and knowledge about domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, stalking, and intersecting issues.

We provide a Fundamentals of Advocacy online course for new advocates, which covers the foundations of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, and prevention.

We also offer live trainings throughout the year on timely topics relevant to all network organizations.

Peer Reviews

The Nebraska Coalition coordinates periodic peer reviews to help ensure network organizations are meeting shared program standards and to support continuous improvement. Program standards outline the core expectations for how domestic and sexual violence programs operate, covering:

  • privacy,
  • confidentiality,
  • data security,
  • services,
  • administration,
  • community collaboration,
  • prevention, and
  • evaluation.

During a peer review, staff offer feedback, share strengths, and help identify opportunities for growth so every survivor in Nebraska receives consistent, high-quality support.

Technical Assistance

The Nebraska Coalition provides technical assistance to advocates and organizations, which often focuses on overcoming a specific challenge or navigating a particular situation. For example, technical assistance could include:

  • brainstorming options for a survivor,
  • providing resources related to a client’s unique situation,
  • sharing knowledge and skills to improve prevention efforts, or
  • facilitating conversations to strengthen connections between local organizations and agencies.

Additional Support

In addition to training, technical assistance, and peer reviews, the Nebraska Coalition provides a variety of other supports to strengthen Network programs. This includes:

  • promoting employee wellness to help address burnout and support long-term staff retention,
  • supplying sexual health and menstrual hygiene products for survivors,
  • creating specialized spaces for staff to connect and share expertise, and
  • developing new resources in response to emerging needs in communities across Nebraska.
