According to the Polaris Project, in 2021 alone, over 10,000 situations of human trafficking were reported to the U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline involving over 16,500 individual survivors. Shocking as these numbers are, they are likely only a fraction of the actual problem.
Human trafficking is clearly a widespread issue, and it’s a topic that gets a lot of attention. However, many people still don’t fully understand what it looks like in their community. While headlines often focus on dramatic stories, most trafficking happens in quieter, everyday ways.
