Sharing Day: The Unique Challenges for Bilingual Advocates
Bilingual Advocates play a critical role in our Network of Programs. They are able to reach survivors who might otherwise go without services and be an important asset for programs and community partners who not have their expertise. But it also comes with its challenges: Bilingual Advocates are required to have a broad knowledge on all services and be everything to the survivors they work with, are often isolated and working as the only Bilingual advocate in the program and are required to find services for survivors in communities where language might be a barrier.
This will not be a ‘Bilingual Advocacy 101’ training, but more of a discussion on current best practices that all programs currently use. Join us in sharing our experiences and lessons.
