Cannon Han is with the Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence. Cannon is one of the leading national TA providers on serving our neighbors who are either non-English speaking or speak English as a second language. Canon will present Working with Interpreters, a presentation that he has offered to do to support advocacy efforts in Nebraska as you provide services to people who may feel marginalized due to language barriers.

This webinar will require homework in advance. Registration will remain open until noon on Friday, August 21. The homework will be sent out the following Monday to give a about 10 days for you to complete it. Once the homework is finished I will email you a link to the webinar.

This webinar is not about being a bilingual advocate, but instead is to help advocates overcome language barriers when serving clients regardless of languages spoken. The webinar is open to program advocates working in Nebraska's Network of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Programs.

The training program will help advocates
- identify the languages spoken in your community.
- identify the language resources that are available.
- work with an interpreter.

Please contact Robert Sanford if you have any questions about this webinar.
