Votes and Voices: The Power of Voting, Advocacy, and Allyship
The first event in a multi-part series on civic engagement, the Votes and Voices series kicks off with Votes and Voices: The Power of Voting, Advocacy, and Allyship. At the crossroads of supporting victims and survivors, advancing social justice, and mobilizing young voters, it’s critical to understand how to coalesce diverse members of the same movement to attain our organizational goals.
In this training, participants will learn about their role as voters, how to get engaged, and how to protect themselves against voter suppression. In tandem, the seminar will cover key ways to advance advocacy beyond the voting booth, key ways to engage the community, and how to be an effective ally by putting survivors voices first.
Objectives:
• Introduce Program, Build and Inspire Youth Advocates, Encourage Engagement, Recruit and Retain Youth and Community Partners.
• Discuss Voter Engagement and Participation, Provide Resources to New Voters, Combat Voter Suppression.
• Introduce Key Ways to Engage in Ally-Ship, Build Survivor-Centric Movements, Encourage Intersectionality.
