Our work is informed by our lived experience and advocates who also identify as survivors bring a unique perspective. This roundtable will draw upon self-reflection and discussion to explore the ways in which survivors use their lived experiences in their work and considerations for deciding whether to share that lived experience with others.
Objectives:
• To celebrate the role of survivors in the movement and the unique perspective they bring to our work.
• To create a space in which advocates may:
o Enhance their sense of purpose and belonging through connection with other advocates who are survivors.
o Explore the intersection between their role as advocates and their lived experience as survivors.
o Determine ways in which their lived experience informs or influences their work.
• To assist survivors to identify and apply strategies to prevent compassion fatigue.
• To assist survivors to recognize post-traumatic growth and opportunities for continued growth and healing.
The day will consist of activities, discussion, processing, writing, movement, and learning from one another.
