This training will focus on 12 step programs (AA,NA, CA, Alanon) as they are an important resource for every community across the state.
However, the principles, practices and interpretations of ‘recovery’ can conflict with trauma informed care.

This training will focus on the pitfalls of AA/NA for men and women with histories of trauma and addiction.

We will review:
- Alternatives to traditional 12 steps work
- Importance of safety planning when referring clients to community 12-step meetings; and,
- How trauma can be addressed within 12-step work.
