We are excited for you to join us for the NO MORE Crimes of Power and Control 2018 Statewide Conference. This year's event is co-sponsored by the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence and the Nebraska State Patrol. Several national speakers are featured as keynote presenters, as well as Nebraska professionals who will be providing breakout sessions.

We sincerely hope that you will join us for both days of the conference, as we are unable to provide a one day registration option.

Cancellation Policy: We are required to submit our registration count to the caterers in advance to ensure proper planning. Therefore, we are unable to offer a registration refund after August 31st, 2018. Thank you!

The NO MORE Crimes of Power and Control Conference will feature the following plenary presenters:

1. Survivors Rising, Speaker's Bureau
"Survivor Panel"
A collective of individuals who have been impacted by sexual trafficking, sexual exploitation, sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, and stalking have chosen to share their experiences of violence and hope to educate the public, create social change, promote awareness of the prevalence and harm of domestic and sexual violence, train service providers, impact policy and legislation and assist in preventing violence in our communities.

2. Cecelia Friedman Levin, Senior Policy Counsel at ASISTA Immigration Assistance
"Community Responses to Serving Immigrant Survivors of Domestic Violence"
Abusers use many tools to maintain power and control and to make immigrant victims of domestic violence less likely to seek protection, including the threat of immigration enforcement. This interactive keynote panel will explore the barriers that immigrant survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault face when accessing help, the routes to immigration status that Congress created to combat manipulation of the legal system by abusers, and how service providers and law enforcement may address those barriers and help immigrant survivors in their communities achieve safety and justice.

3. Bill Smock, MD, Police Surgeon, Louisville Metro Police Department; Institute on Strangulation Prevention
"The Last Warning Shot"
Attendees will learn how to identify the signs and symptoms of non-fatal strangulation cases; understand and recognize the anatomy and medical aspects of surviving and non-surviving victims; investigate and document cases for prosecution; prosecute cases, including using experts in court; and, most importantly, enhance victim safety through trauma-informed advocacy services. Professionals will be introduced to the signs and symptoms of strangulation and training on how to improve responses to non-fatal strangulation cases.

4. Jeff Matsushita and Jennifer Martinez, Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence
"We Choose All of Us: Community of Purpose"
The Idaho Coalition Against Sexual & Domestic Violence inspires the idea of what is possible when we collectively practice life-affirming ways of being. This experiential plenary will explore the vision, purpose, and practices of We Choose All of Us, a network of leaders across communities and social justice issues who are choosing one another - Latinx, Black and Indigenous leaders, LGBTQ leaders, and disability rights leaders from the Idaho Coalition to the ACLU of Idaho to the Sierra Club. We Choose All of Us is a (r)evolution for humanity, a time to plant and nurture the seed that reconnects us to us. Join us and experience We Choose All of Us practices of self-reflection and storytelling in community.

The conference registration fee includes plenary materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshments at breaks for both days of the event. Participants are also invited to gather for a networking opportunity and Annual Advocacy Awards Celebration on Wednesday, September 12th at 4:30, immediately following the conference, where the Nebraska Coalition will also be hosting a "Backyard Bash" themed event with yard games, appetizers, and a cash bar. This will be held on the 2nd floor at Nebraska Innovation Campus.
