National Stalking Awareness Month

This month was born from the death of Peggy Klinke, a woman who was murdered by her stalker in 2003. Debbie Riddle, Peggy’s sister, contacted the Stalking Resource Center to determine how she could improve law enforcement’s response to stalking.

This single call was the impetus for a series of events which ultimately led to a congressional resolution on stalking.

In January 2004, the National Center for Victims of Crime launched the first National Stalking Awareness Month.
